Who We Are
Dr Jeffrey S. Remington, MD, CCFP(EM), FCFP
Family and Emergency Physician
After growing up in Fort Erie, I have been practicing Family and Emergency Medicine for over 20 years, after graduating from McMaster University Medical School and the University of Ottawa/Ottawa General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. I have returned to Port Colborne after spending 3 years practicing and teaching in Kitchener, Ontario at the Waterloo Regional Campus of the McMaster Med School.
During my career, I have held many different leadership positions in both health care and the community, and I’m proud of our many accomplishments, including the recruitment of over 10 new family doctors, building the Mapleview Clinic, establishing the Port Colborne Memory Clinic, creating the Niagara Campus of the McMaster Medical School, and supporting many local charities.
I have been teaching medical students, Family medicine residents, Physician assistant students, and Nurse Practitioner students for nearly my entire career. I hold faculty appointments in the Medical Schools of McMaster University, the University of Ottawa, and Queen’s University. As an educator, I’m proud of the over 100 learners that have passed through my clinic doors, and many are still colleagues and friends.
Also throughout my career I have worked in the Emergency Departments/Urgent Care Centres of Port Colborne Hospital, Douglas Memorial Hospital Fort Erie, Welland General Hospital, and I am currently the Chief of Emergency at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital in Dunnville. Because of my two perspectives as both a Family and Emergency doctor, I was asked to be the Medical Director of a new venture – the Niagara EMS Community Paramedicine program. For 3 years we have been slowly expanding this very worthwhile service throughout Wainfleet and now into the rest of Niagara. Watch the website and Facebook page for further details!
The best part of Family Medicine is getting to know your patients well, and being able to provide them with the best quality of medical and preventative care throughout their lifespan, both in sickness and when well. Being in “General Practice” is exciting – having to know about many different illnesses, and being able to treat people of all different ages! Coming back to Niagara and working with my enthusiastic team, as well as our numerous specialist and allied health colleagues, and caring for so many wonderful patients is truly a privilege!
When not at work, I enjoy walking my dog on the beach, travelling, gardening, and a good single malt whisky.

Certified Physician Assistant
I grew up in Guelph Ontario, and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph in the Bachelor of Arts and Science (psychology and neuroscience) program, and have worked with Dr. Remington since 2014. I did my professional degree at McMaster University in the Bachelor of Health Science- Physician Assistant Program. In my spare time I like to stay active- hiking, biking and playing soccer. I am also an avid reader and love to travel. I am excited to be apart of the Niagara South team and enjoy the collaborative atmosphere. My areas or interest are women’s health and pediatrics. I chose to pursue a career in family medicine for the variety and continuity of care, as well as the opportunity to get involved in preventative health care. I enjoy collaborating with people to achieve their health goals in a way that is attune with their lives and values.
