It’s Flu Shot Season!

The flu (influenza) is a very contagious virus that anyone can get. There are a number of things we can do to protect ourselves from getting the flu:

  1. Get the Flu vaccine! It’s safe for anyone older than 6 months as it is… 

    • safe (including for kids and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding)
    • free
    • available from your doctor or nurse practitioner, and at participating pharmacies and local public health units across the province
    • proven to reduce the number of doctor visits, hospitalizations and deaths related to the flu
    • different each year because the virus changes frequently – so you need to get it every fall
  2. Wash your hands, stop the chain of transmission by washing your hands for at least 15 seconds
  3. Cough or Sneeze into your sleeve
  4. Stay home when you are sick
